Audition
Skylark, the critically-acclaimed professional choir, accepts auditions on a rolling basis.
About our needs Skylark operates with a "core" group of 24-30 singers, from whom the rosters of each project are drawn. Occasionally we have needs for substitutes from outside of our core ensemble. We are always accepting auditions for all voice parts, but are only likely to review materials periodically as needs arise. Skylark musicians receive a flat fee for each concert series based on the activity of the week. A travel stipend is also included for those traveling for each project. |
Audition requirements
It is critical that all musicians have significant professional solo and ensemble experience and outstanding sight reading skills. Due to the extremely compressed nature of our rehearsal and concert schedules, it is expected that all members of Skylark will be able to perform their parts at the first rehearsal for a given project. To audition for Skylark, please submit the following materials 1. Choral CV 2. Sample CD, web link, or electronic files of 2 solo performances in contrasting styles. Note: Recordings of arias and/or art songs that primarily demonstrate vocal acrobatics and/or heft as a solo singer carrying over an orchestra are far less useful that intimate recordings (even a cappella) that demonstrate a range of vocal colors/timbres and a keen sensitivity to the text being sung 3. A recording of a demonstration of vocal range - ideally scales sung at a gentle mf, demonstrating a level of vibrato that you deem appropriate for small ensemble singing 4. Headshot 5. Link to personal website (if applicable) 6. Contact information for 3 choral references Submit materials via email to [email protected] |
